ABOUT JORGE PASTORE
On November 11, 2023, Jorge was shot and killed in the line-of-duty during a SWAT hostage rescue response in southeast Austin. He joined the Austin Police Department in 2019 after a full career as a Firefighter and Paramedic in Florida. As a Patrol Officer, he served both the Henry and George sector in downtown Austin. He proudly served in APD’s Honor Guard, Counter Assault Strike Team (CAST), Special Response Team (SRT), and SWAT Gold Team.
This tragic loss was felt all over the country with almost 7,000 people including Fire, EMS, Police & Civilians attending his funeral service. Jorge had a way of bringing people together, elevating people and motivating them to be the best they could be.
He had a passion for training, fitness, and helping others, which is the driving force behind his foundation. His work ethic, drive, and ambition was second to none and continues to motivate officers to be the best version of themselves to this day. His energy, magnetism and smile made him someone everyone wanted to be around and he truly went to work every day to make the city of Austin and the department better. Help us honor his legacy by building on the FOUNDATION he has laid out through his service and dedication.
